P-FLAG cheerleaders to help Stone Gables Bed and Breakfast

kick off Cincinnatkarad

by Marti Kwiatkowski

Cincinnati-The P-FLAG Cheerleaders will

help to kick off the Cincinnati Pride parade on Sunday, June 11.

Parents, Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gays of Greater Cincinnati promotes the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and intersex people, their families and friends through: support, to cope with an adverse society; education, to enlighten an ill-informed public; and advocacy, to end discrimination and secure

equal civil rights. P-FLAG provides an oppor-

tunity for confidential dialogue about sexual orien-

tation and gender identity, and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity.

P-FLAG wants to help other parents and works to change attitudes. While society has imbued everyone with misinformation about homosexuality, the community must not allow these distorted attitudes to go unchallenged and continue to interfere with the happiness of parents and children and their relationship to each other.

P-FLAG Cincinnati meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7 pm at Mt. Auburn Presbyterian Church, 103 William Howard Taft Road. For further information write to P.O. Box 19634, Cincinnati 45219-0634, call 513-721-7900 or go to www.pflagcinci.org.

See the group's booth at the Pride festival in Hoffner Park for a chance to win two tickets to Kings Island.

Marti Kwiatkowski is the president of P-FLAG Cincinnati.

NKFA braces for battle

Kentucky equality group to fight adoption ban, other anti-gay rights legislation

and Wes Wright

Covington, Ky.-Calling 2005 a critical year in the fight for full equality, the Northern Kentucky Fairness Alliance invites all fairminded people to become active in Northern Kentucky's leading gay rights organization.

"If you thought last year's anti-gay marriage amendment in Kentucky was devastating, just wait till you hear what the anti-gay forces have up their sleeves for next year," says NKFA co-chair Tom Miller. "We've learned that anti-gay forces are planning to introduce yet another constitutional amendment to ban GLBT people from being foster or adoptive parents."

"The challenges ahead are enormous but they are also opportunities for empowerment," Miller adds. "What we need now is a larger army of fair-minded Northern Kentuckians to become active in NKFA."

NKFA holds monthly meetings on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Campbell County Public Library, 901 East Sixth Street in Newport. For more information, contact Wes Wright at 859-491-3578, or Tom Miller at 859-261-1568 tomcov37@msn.com.
